There was a nicely written article in today's New York Times that looks at generational schism on feminism and Clinton's campaign ("Clinton's Bid Shows Divide For Women"). What I found really fascinating and interesting to read were the readers' comments included in a sidebar. Take a look at these two comments, which followed one another:
"When I was an elementary school principal, I used to cringe every time I walked into a classroom and saw the classic poster of the American presidents. What thoughts go through a little girl's mind when she realizes for the first time there's not a single woman depicted? Yes, it's time [to elect a woman president]." ~ David Archambault
"This shouldn't even be a conversation. I teach first grade at an all-girls school, and they look at me like I'm crazy when I tell them we've never had a woman president. Trying to explain this imbalance of power, to break down what sexism is to a 6-year-old, it really makes you realize how absurd our country is. I believe these girls will grow up believing in themselves in a different way than I did." ~Carla Hinojosa
